Sixty-five years ago, our country focused all its energy in an epic struggle. The young were called to arms. The U.S. industrial machine awoke from a decade of economic depression to produce war materials. Aircraft came off the production lines in unheard of numbers. After the war, these aircraft decayed in remote areas or went to smelters for reuse in the aluminum industry.
