Hi Chris; You're not the only one.
I don't know if I am qualified to direct you in this area. I just completed an ADS-B installation and I'm using an iPad and a Dual XGPS 170 for my ADS-B In and navigation. But I'm a very light IFR flyer and am getting along fine with my old KLN 94 GPS.
It really depends on how much you want to spend, and what you need. Will the airplane be flown in IFR conditions?, do you like the latest touchscreen avionics?
I think you should join the rest of the CFA crew, we also hang out with the Piper Flyer gang at Waupaca, Wisconsin (KPCZ) the weekend before Oshkosh (Google AirVenture) this year. AirVenture will be open July 24 through the 30th this year.
Then you'll be able to visit all the avionics vendors, attend forums about avionics choices and ADS-B and talk to others about the solutions they've chosen.

Hi Folks,
I just joined CFA!
I have recently purchased a share of a 1978 Cessna 182.

It has an old KNS80.

I want to update the avionics with GPS and ADSB.

I'm overwhelmed with the choices and am looking for advice and recommendations from the CFA team.

Best Regards,
Chris
