the device is based on an inertial reel. Cessna modified it many times .
I had it in my 182, installed when appeared to be mandatory and Cessna delivered free of charge.
For my experience it is a trap and I haave no more installed in the 210.
I said it is a trap because it is inertial, the inertia mechanism is supposed to disconnect when you lift up the seat handle.
Believe me..when you are in a hurry to escape the aircraft you do not care how gently or how deep you lift the handle and therefore you will never move the seat back due to the mechanism.
Finally this mechanism is great to avoid slippage of the seat....may be too great... :(
..It is just my opinion..
More:Cessna on the new 182 modified the rails and do not applie that device

Good morning,

I was able to contact CFA's resident mechanic at the EAA AirVenture last night with your question about seat stops. This is his reply: "The secondary seat stop is not mandatory. I'm not sure whether Cessna is still providing the secondary seat stops free of charge. I believe that McFarlane Aviation does have a type of secondary seat stop this is slightly different from the Cessna one, but still works". McFarlane's URL is: www.mcfarlane-aviation.com/Products/?Cat...tNumber=MC0511242-1& . If you still have questions, please let me know.

Hi and thanks for writing.

Please be patient on your question this week as many of our members and staff are at EAA AirVenture and at the CFA Gathering in Waupaca, WI.

Best,

The secondary seat stop issue is a bit confusing.
Is it mandatory, does Cessna pick up the tab?
Thanks for any light you can shed.
