Gross weight increase for 'N' model? 1 year 2 months ago #474

My son just bought a 1970 N model and all the paperwork etc shows a gross weight of 2950 for takeoff and a landing gross of 2800.

For STC searches - there's a link under the Knowledge Base menu tab as well. :silly:
I have queried a couple of the companies that have the STC for gross weight increase for 172s, etc (Air Plains) and they are not aware of anything available for the 182N.
We'll keep the search up - if it's out there we will find it.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanks, Scott. We looked at the wing extension tanks, not sure our hangar would hold it.
I'll keep looking, and I appreciate your help.

Hi Ron,

I just spent the afternoon downloading the FAA STC spreadsheet and I've read through all of the Cessna STC's. I didn't find anything for an N model for a gross weight increase. However, I did find a different lead for you to search on. It turns out that some aircraft, Cessna included, have STC's available for auxiliary fuel tanks that extend the wings on some aircraft. The wing extension, while allowing an aux fuel tank, also allows a gross weight and useful load increase. I couldn't find one for the N model but I'll keep looking. Happy Thanksgiving,

Thanks Scott, you too, Jen! I've emailed one of the STC holders and he tells me that he doesn't know of one for the 'N' model. Has to do with spring steel gear legs on mine whereas the P model went to tubular steel.
I'll keep searching, and thanks again for the help.
