California Aviation Awareness Day at the Capitol in Sacramento, April 24, 2013

The California Aviation Awareness Day at the Capitol is presented to inform legislators, staff, and the public about the importance of aviation to the welfare of the California economy and to raise the level of awareness of the benefits of aviation to all Californians.

Our Main Message

  • Aviation is vital to the California economy.
  • Airports and aviation create jobs.
  • State support of California’s airports is completely funded by user fees.
  • The historical level of state support is insufficient to sustain the infrastructure.

California Aviation Awareness Day Activities and Schedule

The event kicks off on Tuesday evening, April 23, with a reception for elected officials at Chops Sacramento, 1117 11th Street across from the Capitol. (This reception is by invitation only.)

Wednesday, April 24, will begin with the distribution of aviation information packets to the offices of every Assembly Member and Senator. In this process, representatives will be given the opportunity to speak with constituents and industry experts regarding the important role aviation plays in our state.

From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, the north steps of the Capitol will feature interactive displays and informational presentations provided by businesses and organizations which utilize aviation to serve their customers and benefit the citizens of California. There is no charge to attend this part of the event and everyone is encouraged to come learn about the state’s aviation industry and enjoy the activities that will be offered.
