AD 2013-11-10

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Cessna Aircraft Company (Cessna) (previously COLUMBIA or LANCAIR) Models LC40-550FG, LC41-550FG, and LC42-550FG airplanes. This AD was prompted by reports that during maximum braking, if the brakes lock up and a skid occurs, a severe oscillatory yawing motion or ''wheel walk'' may develop, which could result in further significant structural damage to the airplane. This AD requires insertions into the pilot's operating handbook (POH) and the airplane maintenance manuals (AMM) regarding proper use of the brakes and inspection of the aft fuselage. We are issuing this AD to correct the
unsafe condition on these products.

AD 2013-11-11

We are superseding AD 2000-04-01 that applies to certain Cessna Aircraft Company (Cessna) Models 172R, 172S, 182S, 182T, T182T, 206H, and T206H airplanes. AD 2000-04-01 currently requires an inspection of the engine oil pressure switch and, if applicable, replacement of the engine oil pressure switch. This AD increases the applicability of the AD, places a life-limit of 3,000 hours time-in-service on the engine oil pressure switch, and requires replacement when the engine oil pressure switch reaches its life limit. This AD was prompted by new reports of internal failure of the engine oil pressure switch, which could result in complete loss of engine oil with
consequent partial or complete loss of engine power or fire. We are issuing this AD to correct the unsafe condition on these products.

AD 2013-15-04

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Hartzell Propeller, Inc. propeller models HC-(1,D)2(X,V,MV)20-7, HC-(1,D)2(X,V,MV)20-8, and HC-(1,D)3(X,V,MV)20-8. This AD was prompted by failures of the propeller hydraulic bladder diaphragm and resulting engine oil leak. This AD requires replacement of the propeller hydraulic bladder diaphragm. We are issuing this AD to prevent propeller hydraulic bladder diaphragm rupture, loss of engine oil, damage to the engine, and loss of the airplane.

AD 2013-21-02

We are superseding airworthiness directive (AD) 2012-24-09 for Lycoming Engines TIO-540-AK1A, and Continental Motors, Inc. (CMI) TSIO-360-MB, TSIO-360-SB, and TSIO-360-RB reciprocating engines, with certain Hartzell Engine Technologies (HET) turbochargers, model TA0411, installed. AD 2012-24-09 required removing certain HET turbochargers from service before further flight. This AD also requires removing certain HET turbochargers from service before further flight. This AD was prompted by a report that an additional engine, the CMI LTSIO-360-RB, has the affected HET turbochargers installed. We are issuing this AD to prevent turbocharger turbine wheel failure, reduction or complete loss of engine power, loss of engine oil, oil fire, and damage to the airplane.

SAIB: CE-14-04

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is written to inform and remind owners and operators about changes contained in manufacturers' navigation database updates. The cyclical updates may exclude certain navigation data including approach procedures, which makes this information unavailable for selection on the aircraft flight management system or navigation equipment.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has determined that the airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD) action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 39. The FAA continues to monitor these issues with the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

AD 2013-24-06

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH TAE 125-01 reciprocating engines. This AD requires applying sealant to close the engine clutch housing (crankcase assembly) opening. This AD was prompted by a report of engine power loss due to engine coolant contaminating the engine clutch. The design of the engine allows the crankcase assembly opening to be susceptible to contamination from external sources. We are issuing this AD to prevent in-flight engine power loss, which could result in loss of control of, and damage to, the airplane.

SAIB: NM-14-08

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) advises owners and operators of certain Cessna Aircraft Company Model 500, 550, S550, 552 and 560 airplanes modified by Sierra Industries, Ltd. STC SA8437SW and Cessna Aircraft Company Model 501 and 551 airplanes modified by Sierra Industries, Ltd. STC SA8458SW (Type Certificate Data Sheets A22CE and A27CE, respectively) of an airworthiness concern regarding radome latch covers.
At this time, the airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD) action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR) part 39.

SAIB: NE-14-10

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin alerts you, owners, operators, and maintainers of Merl, Inc. Batteries, used in Narco Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs), that there is a potential maintenance oversight related to inspection requirements in § 91.207 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR 91.207). This maintenance oversight could lead to undetected battery leakage and subsequent corrosion that could result in the ELT becoming inoperable. Regulatory action is not required at this time since the airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive action under 14 CFR part 39.

SAIB: CE-14-11

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) is to alert owners, operators, and maintenance technicians of Cessna 300 and 400 Models and Series airplanes of an airworthiness concern, specifically the recommendation to inspect the nose landing gear (NLG) trunnion to ensure that cracks are not present. If cracks are present, the trunnion should be replaced because a failure during landing may cause significant damage to the airplane and may cause injury to the occupants. Airplanes affected are all series of Cessna Models 310/335/340/401/402/404/411/414/421/ 425/441 and Reims 406.
At this time, the airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD) action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 39.

AD 2014-03-03

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Cessna Aircraft Company (Cessna) Models 310, 320, 340, 401, 402, 411, 414, and 421 airplanes. This AD was prompted by an investigation of recent and historical icing-related accidents and incidents for the products listed above. This AD requires either having the supplemental airplane flight manual/airplane flight manual supplement (SAFM/AFMS) inside the airplane and accessible to the pilot during the airplane's operation or installing a placard that prohibits flight into known icing conditions and installing a placard that increases published airspeed on approach at least 17 mph (15 knots) in case of an inadvertent encounter with icing. We are issuing this AD to correct the unsafe condition on these products.
